Golden Circle and Pearls of the Arctic Coast Way August 19 – 25, 2021

Golden Circle, Kjölur Route, Coast of Sagas and Mythology, Coast of Fishing towns and Heritage, Diamond Circle, Coast of Elemental Nature, Langanes, Mývatn Nature Bath, Akureyri
Day 1, August 19, 2021, Rejkavik.
Upon arrival and after introductions we'll travel north. F-35 passes some amazing scenery between various glaciers, Langjökull and Hofsjökull. You'll have a chance to snorkel or scuba dive on a tectonic plate.
This route makes for magical scenery. We'll visit small towns, a geothermal hotspot and Iceland’s larger hydro electric projects.
Day 2, August 20 Coastal Fishing Towns and Heritage
VW 4X4 vans in order to be flexible. We will use the time in Hjalteyri to split up into smaller groups and try different types of tours.
In the morning you will have the option to spend some time with Icelandic Horses on some beautiful trails.
Alternatively the other van will head to the picturesque town of Siglufjörður. This beautiful town is situated at the northern tip of the peninsula.
Hiking is available in the afternoon.
The mountains reach elevations of just over 3.000 feet. We have many trails to choose from.
Hjalteyri Hotel features great rooms all with en-suite bath.
The hotel also features a roof top hot tub and Finnish Sauna, great panoramic views of Eyjafjörður fiord, an amazing
library and art. Your group will be served breakfast every morning at the hotel.
There are beautiful geothermal hot tubs on the beach in Hauganes. These 3 hot tubs are varying in temperature and are located right on the beach.
Day 3, August 21 Northern Iceland- Choose your adventure
Start the morning on an Icelandic fishing vessel whale watching or paddleboarding through beautiful waters. If you are scuba certified you may dive with Arctic Marine Life.
We'll visit Kjarnaskogi for a game of Icelandic rabbit chasing.
In the early evening there will be time for a drive to Strytan or a visit to the beer spa. Our private chef will prepare dinner.
Day 4, August 22 Ecotourism- Mývatn and the Diamond Circle.
Ecotourism at the Cow Cafe, Icelandic cows are happy cows!
After some coffee and cake, we will go on to Mývatn. Our first stop will be góðafoss (waterfall of the God ́s ). A short drive after the falls will bring us to Mývatn Region and Mývatn Nature Baths. We can spend a couple of hours here in the baths. According to Icelandic folklore there are clans of elves and trolls hiding in the hills, outcrops and lava fields.
We will follow the river for a 3-4 hour hike seeing glaciers and waterfalls searching for "hidden people"
Day 5, August 23 Monday Meet the locals.
Amazing Race Challenge Day
You will be broken down into 3 or 4 smaller groups. You will all be handed different clues, which will take you on an exploration of the village and area around.
The scavenger hunt will take you exploring buildings, meeting people, touring a fish factory (maybe out on a fishing boat with a captain) and eventually will give you clues as to which farm you will end up at for the later portion of the day.
You will spend the afternoon at various farms with local farmers, you will be able to do yoga with sheep, horses, goats and then have dinner with the host.
Day 6, August 24 Coast of Elemental Nature- Photography tour
We will begin with a hike, down one of the rivers that leads to ruins of an old farm.
We will then head to the observation deck where you can try to shoot some puffins ( which your camera of course ).
On our return to Þórshöfn you will have free time, which can allow for additional hiking or Kayaking, where you can get more glimpses of bird life, puffins, and seals.
We will have a final farewell
4 course dinner at Báran Restaurant.
Day 7 Fly over Iceland to Reykjavik
It is with a Twin Otter, that flies relatively low, on this magnificent flight to Akureyri, where we fly over the mid Atlantic ridge, and you can see amazing geological features.
Free time to explore Reykjavik
